Our Philosophy

Chears & Associates embodies that old and corny joke about management consulting: Once upon a time when asked who a management consultant is and what they do, a wise old consultant replied – “It is someone who after asking them “what time is it,” they take your watch and tell you.”

The joke is corny, but the metaphor is powerful. It says that many of the answers that people are looking for (especially those who work in groups and teams) are available, but not necessarily evident.

At Chears & Associates (CA) we bring our years of knowledge, skill, training, insight, and expertise to bear, but seek to facilitate solutions in a collaborative way. We know that when you use a consultant your goal is faster, sensible and workable answers to tough questions or situations. Our approach respects the wisdom that already exists, accelerates the pace, and helps you go to the next level where you can reflect, question, refine, and strategize.

We support our clients to develop and achieve their highest vision. We believe that vision is achieved through seeing where you want to go, understanding where you are now, committing to closing the gaps, and implementing pathways for getting from where you are, to where you want to be. We commit to your success.

We find that individuals and organizations with clear and practical vision are more successful because they:

• Know where they are going
• Communicate more effectively to all stakeholders
• Anticipate issues that may affect them
• Achieve results by aligning human and capital resources
• Bridge disparate factions and negotiate their buy-in
• Create environments where:
• Employees are empowered
• Clients and customers are served
• Investors and board members are confident.

Vision goes beyond mission statements and business plans. Vision promotes the freedom to ask questions that lead to strategic and tactical fulfillment, not just idea exchanges. At CA we facilitate processes whereby clients realize new possibilities that support growth toward their vision. We do this through 3 principal methods.

Situation Analysis – We assess issues and concerns through collaboration and analysis. Then we work to define the unique success requirements of each environment and fulfill them through organizational diagnosis of: policies, procedures, processes and practices; staffing, hiring and training; mission, principles, values and culture; decision, resource and strategy streams; physical space utilization.

Coaching – We coach key executives, leaders, directors and teams to clarify goals, see gaps and move toward where they want to be. Our coaching, training and analysis provides a foundation for clear strategy formulation, overcoming barriers and keeping on track.

Training & Development – We facilitate learning and skills development through interactive programs and training activities that are goal directed and practical.
