Years ago I became aware of The Pathfinder by Nicholas Lore and was blown away by the following passage:
To me, real friends are those people who will stand for you expressing yourself fully, who will go out of their way to support you to keep your word, to go the extra mile, to get out of the box, to make your dreams come true. The only people who will do that are those who are doing it themselves. Everyone else will be completely caught in the grip of dancing to the tune of their ‘yeah buts.’ Nothing is more powerful than a great network of support. In fact, you will not be able to break out of the grip of automatic living without the help of other people. Find new friends who are also willing to stand out the wild winds. Create a group of friends dedicated to supporting one another to make the entire group’s dreams come true. Train yourself to speak for your friends commitments, rather than the infinite wisdom of your own opinions.
To fulfill this challenge we must take stands and show up with an attitude of collaboration, truth, support and “why not.” These are the things that help me be a better person and serve my clients – fearlessly and with integrity.
